original

These are photographs of our original staircase We have already taken the carpet off when this photo was taken.

We had it replaced because they were not safe, the steps moved out of position.

Even with wooden scaffolding under the stairs to keep the stairs in position, the stairs still moved and where gradually getting worse.

View of the under the staircase from the kitchen partion wall which usually has the oven infront.

day1

In 1 day they managed to rip the old staircase out and fit the 'step' parts of the stairs so it was safe to go on them.

This is the view from the kitchen behind the oven cupboard.

The carpenters propped the ladder up in our top landing as they had not fitted the handrails (they did not want me falling down when I was half asleep).

day 2

We are really impressed with the new staircase but our next jobs are choosing theright colour dye to stain the wood and to choose a matching carpet for the stairs.

Rather tight squeeze under the stairs!

.

We need to find a way to fil the gap in the wall
which is the difference between the original staircase and our new one.

View from the kitchen behind the oven cupboard, you can see the other side of the gap.
